Kicked
The forces of good have been kicked in the stomach. At least that was how I felit when I heard about London and the bombings yesterday. A physical feeling of dread.
When will it end ? How will it end ? There seems no way to reason a peaceful solution.
Finally, I can add a image to this blog. Here is a quilt from Gee's Bend. The exhibit is current at the Museum of Fine Art in Boston. I really want to see this.
A few years ago when my Grand mother first came to live with us, she was distributing a few of her thing to us. She used to collect cups and saucers sets, salt and pepper shakers, spoons and she was giving some of this to my sisters in me. The breakables were wrapped in a cloth and I asked, "Gee Nana, what is this ?" She explained that it was a quilted piece that Pop-Pa's mother had given to her when she got married and she just uesd the old thing to wrap up her glassware.

J - run don't walk to the Gee Bend exhibit! We went when it was at the Corcoran Gallery in DC and walked through it twice; there really wasn't enough patience in the Wyldman to go again.
When we were there a Church group was having brunch in the cafe and were all dressed for church hats included. Listening to them singing the old hymns brought back many fond memories for me.
I've always wanted to make a quilt, but get scared off when I start reading quilting books because everything has to be so precise. Seeing a quilt like that reminds me that it is better to do it and have something crooked but colorful that can keep my kids warm instead of just thinking about it and fretting over how I can't do it perfectly (was that sentence long enough?)
