The other day we were sitting around Circles and the topic of Ralph Ellison came up.
Of course that age old question was brought up, what ever happened to him ? Why wasn't there a second novel, or at least one completed in his lifetime ?
Reading the New Yorker last night, I came across a review of this...
A new biography by Arnold Rampersad. Professor Rampersad is the Langston Hughes scholar and I marvel at the depths and detail that he provides in his writing. Imagine, to come up from utter poverty to write an award winning novel. One many believe is one of the great American novel. The review was fascinating. I can't wait to read this book.

Invisible Man was a book I read in college for one of my English classes. It was very good, if disturbing (which was the intent). There's a good article about him in Contemporary Authors Online, which you can access with your Boston Public Library card here: http://www.bpl.org/electronic/literature.asp
