NO MRS HAMMER HAS NOT CALMED DOWN ! \
(But my mother in law reads this Blog )
As not all of you lovely knitters may be familiar with rabid horrible radio talk show hosts and/or the world of sports...
Therefore a primer.
Here is the link to the Boston Globe Story to date:
http://www.boston.com/ae/tv/articles/2007/04/10/imus_calls_his_suspension_appropriate/
The Lady Knights of Rutgers University have agreed
to meet with Don Imus at an undisclosed location for a private meeting, sometime in the hear future.
I am sure, the young ladies will have a discourse wit Mr.Imus that is mutually beneficial for all parties.
If not...
OPEN UP A CAN OF WHUPASS !
Now back to knitting.............

The high road that Vivian Stringer and the Lady Knights are taking is wonderful. Sure, he is entitled to say things (free speech and all that), but the fact that more people aren't outraged by his statements just proves that we have a long way to go on civil rights.
Nice column over at ESPN - http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=hill/070410
Thank you Kat. It is a thoughful and thought provoking article.

I think you have to hold Imus' management responsible. They're the ones who reward him for what he does, which as far as they're concerned is just get ears for their advertisers. Imus knows that he gets lots of attention for being outrageous. So long as all that matters is getting lots of attention, radio personalities will do it.
Let's also talk about how inappropriate it is to insult the Rutgers womens basketball team at all. They may not have won the championship, but they played a wonderful game to defeat a much more highly ranked team to get as far as they did. I think sports commentators should be sacked for perpetrating the attitude that only one team is any good, on top of any other reasons for getting rid of them.
The other thing I wanted to say, and I don't think I can say it without sounding like a dirty old man but so be it, is, cherish the hair. There's nothing (that can be mentioned in a G-rated blog) that feels nicer than dancing cheek-to-cheek with a woman who has an afro.
Heh-heh. MSNBC and CBS Radio have opened up their corporate cans of whup-ass on him. I also feel like sending e-mails of thanks to Bigelow Tea, Procter & Gamble, and Staples. All three companies pulled their ads from his MSNBC show in protest.
