Ten Tings

1. I, instead of placing knitting on stitch holders I often bind off. I hate the jangling of stitch holders and invariably the stitches fall off anyway. A quick and loose bind off allows me to try on garments in progress with out having to worry about dropped stitches. Other knitters seem to look on with dismay, but I like the eccentricity. Speaking of which, every knitter should have a knitting related one, aside from the general yarn obsession.

2. I am a yarn snob. DonÂ’t care if any one has a problem with it. It just is. I love and prefer to wear natural fabrics. I adore yarns of fine wool, silk, cashmere, alpaca. O my. I am dizzy now.

3. I have only once in my life bought the yarn specifically recommended for a pattern. I havenÂ’t knit it yet, but I may do it this winter. I have been getting better at finishing and taking little knitting holidays to get more knitting time in.

4. I love to knit mohair with bamboo needles. I canÂ’t explain it. It is an ethereal moment for me. Maybe because of the lightness.

5. Working in a yarn shop is my dream job.

6. I love knitting in the morning. I have knitting beside my bed. Usually what ever I am rushing to finish, or a sock. soothesths me, it centers my day.

7. In the same vein I love knitting while traveling. Road Trip ? Yeah letÂ’s go if I can bring my knitting. Subway delay Â…. Who cares? More time to knit.

8. Two file cabinets at work are filed with yarn and patterns. A basket of yarn serves as a centerpiece on a bookcase in my cube.

9. I feel you must knit for charity. You must, must absolutely knit for charity. At least once. At least one little item. How else are you going to get rid of that stash ? What else are you going to do with that piece you made to learn/practice a new technique.
It’s a no lose proposition You feel good, hopefully the recipient will feel good or at least better and you lose some stash to make more for the “Atta Girl Yarn”.

10. As some wise woman on TV once said, Knitting is love.

Hey that was me !

Chheccck it out

I like to knit a row or 2 in the morning (or more if I'm running early). Most people where I work get in after me even so. Same way, soothing. Then I practice trumpet for a couple of minutes and wake Arlene up and get unsoothed.
