Happy Birthday !

There are some people in this world that are so good to be around. It is a wonderful thing to see them in the morning. It puts a start to my day that is just sublime. And because I was blessed this way this morning I am good to write about them for a minute.

One such person in my life is my mother-in-law. I don’t see her often enough. And I am really lucky to have such a wonderful person in my life. Plus it’s her birthday this weekend!

The second person is my girl
Kat. We see each other regularly on the subway in the morning since we are in the same area of Boston. We get a chance to connect and chat about our projects, yarn obsessions, etc. The other passengers must think we are insane, BUT WE DO NOT CARE!
Check out her poor little eye on her blog. She is a hoot that one, A Renaissance woman to be sure. She Knits! She Scores!

However the other morning I ran into Good Neighbor Jen who I simply don’t see enough. I met her at Circles the first year and she is just one of the nicest people ever. She lives around the corner from me and is the wife of Dean Stevens, a singer/activist who is leading a group of people to El Salvador in July, including the knitters that will form the El Salvador Travel Circle.

As some of you many know, we like to have excursions as a group from Circles and this one will be the most interesting yet. A group of people will join Dean on one of his regularly scheduled trips to El Higueral, a village in the northwest mountains a few hours from San Salvador. Dean has been going to this area for 14 years in an effort to help the community rebuild. This area was re-populated in the 90’s after it was devastated by U.S. backed groups in the 1980’s. You can read a little more about this
On the Circles forum. There may be space available. You can contact Allison at Circles 617 522-5500. We are planning on bringing cotton yarn and needles to women there and will be doing some fund raising to off set this cost.

Well, I was good and did a little stash busting; I had found a bag of cotton that I thought was lost in the move. I had intended to donate it and I probably will, but my friend likes to make cotton washcloths and her favorite color is purple . So I gritted my teeth and gave it up.

Why is it so hard to destash ? Why, when I have more yarn that any one can imagine, I want to hold on to each little strand with a death grip, Geesh.

PS. My birthday is Sunday April 30. My coworkers just surprised me with a cake. My Goodies to come ! (I hope)
